FCS ATHLETICS2007/2008 SPORTS
At Forsyth Christian School, opportunities to participate and to excel in athletics are many, as we are pleased to offer a full range of athletics to our students. We are pleased to offer an intramural program in conjunction with the Forsyth County recreational departments for our elementary students, and junior varsity and varsity athletics for our middle and high school students. Venues at the junior varsity and varsity levels include: Flag Football, Volleyball, Cheerleading, Basketball, Baseball, Softball, Cross-Country, Tennis and Soccer. Junior varsity and varsity athletics for our middle and high school students begin in the sixth grade with conference affiliation through the Independent Christian Schools of Georgia & Alabama (ICSGA) - a twenty-seven member, Christian-based athletic association in existence since 1993. The thirteen year old organization offers two divisions of play - Single A and Double A. Member schools are placed according to student population, much like GHSA format, and are broken into North, South, East and West divisions. FCS resides in the North region. At the end of each athletic season, the ICSGA hosts region tournaments at the local levels, with winners and second place finishers qualifying for State Tournaments hosted in a collegiate venue throughout Georgia. ICSGA State Champions then have the opportunity to travel to a national tournament where they compete for a national championship. Just as Forsyth Christian School values excellence in academics, we also stress excellence in athletics. In the Christians athletic programs, Christ-like qualities and academics are a priority, but we are quick to encourage participation, while striving for excellence in all that we do. We make no apologies for playing to win, but playing LIKE winners is even more important. As coaches, we strive to instill the highest ideals of Christianity and good sportsmanship, including the character traits of integrity, fair play and respect for others. We, as a staff, are committed to assisting our student-athletes' development of these traits. We invite you, as a member of the Christians athletic programs, to "press towards the mark of the prize of the high calling" as Paul wrote to the Philippians. And, we pledge to you, as a Christians student-athlete, most importantly, the opportunity to grow personally and athletically. With your growth, you and your team will enjoy the incredible experience of exceeding personal and team goals - ultimately winning beyond your own expectations! |
